Camp Abilities Olympia Radio Interview

I recently got to experience the camp of a lifetime when I took on hosting Washington State's FIRST EVER Camp Abilities.  It was a free sports camp for visually impaired and blind children that we hosted at Saint Martin's University.  We had (50) volunteers and (9) Athletes for the (2) day sports camp.  It was an event that seemed to effect everyone who participated in a very positive way.   We are hosting the 2017 Camp, the week of August 7-11th @ Saint Martin's University.

Check out the website for more information in the coming months!

  1. Dear Mr. Edgerton,
For an English class project, I have chosen to learn Braille. Part of this project involves conducting an interview of an expert. I would like to ask you some questions about the value, struggles, and methods of learning Braille. I also have some inquiries about Braille writing/typing devices. Here is my list of the questions. If you would like clarification on any, feel free to email me.
    1. How old were you when you learned Braille?
    2. Was learning Braille difficult for you? What were some challenges?
    3. Who taught you Braille?
    4. Have you had many opportunities to use Braille in your life?
    5. Have you ever used a Braille typing device?
    6. If so, what did you like or dislike about it?
    7. What would keep a blind person from learning Braille?
    8. Do you have any additional advice or information you'd like to share with me about Braille learning, typing, or anything else?
    With gratitude,
    Gretchen Ivers

    1. Hi Gretchen –

Thanks for reaching out to me! I am happy to answer your questions but I want to make sure you understand that I am not a braille expert. I have taken three braille classes. I recently broke my arm which makes typing very difficult. Is it possible to chat over the phone to answer your questions? If so email me at keithdavid17@msn.com and we can set up a time to chat!
